About Anastasia
My name is Ana. I have worked with students from many cultural backgrounds, having lived in Ukraine, China and currently the UK. I hold a BA in International Economics from Simon Kuznets National University of Economics in Ukraine and an MBA in Enterprise Management from Changchun University of Science and Technology in China (长春理工大学)。
Being a native speaker in Russian and Ukrainian languages gave me the opportunity to teach those languages to children and adults from China and the UK, developing an understanding of best techniques of learning for English speakers and Chinese speakers.
I’ve studied Mandarin Chinese since 2008 and moved to China in 2011, where I gained an MBA degree upon completion of a 4-year government-run programme in Chinese. Having lived and worked in China for over 8 years, I got familiar with the IGCSE, A-levels and IB systems, which helped me to offer students specialised support in subjects including Economics, Mandarin Chinese and Russian languages.
I am keen to help students and young professionals to improve their language skills, business skills, as well as to give advice on studying and working in China, including information on scholarships, universities and visa requirements.
I always seek to put the wishes of the tutees first, which makes their learning progress and comfort my top priority. I am a good listener and am flexible with teaching styles, I like to help my tutees to systemise their knowledge, to develop skills to memorize new knowledge, to improve their ability to learn fast and with a clear structure.
I’ve worked with a number of students of different age groups:
I have been a language teacher for children ages 1-6 and helped teach groups of children with disabilities;
I have been delivering comprehensive curriculums to large classes for Grade 3-6 achieving high results on China national testing and ranking;
I have been a qualified assessor for ASDAN CoPE and AoPE (concealed information) since 2013, tutoring high school and university students and helping to improve their skills in learning, problem-solving, academic research and presentation.
