About Theresa
I am a certified teacher with over 15 years of experience working with elementary students as a classroom teacher, academic specialist, and instructional coach. Throughout my career, I have helped students strengthen their math foundations and build confidence in their learning.
I specialize in helping students in grades 3–6 with key math concepts such as place value, multi-digit operations, fractions, decimals, and word problems. I also have extensive experience helping students prepare for the Texas STAAR math assessment.
I especially enjoy working with students who feel frustrated or stuck in math and helping them rebuild their confidence step by step. My goal is to help students develop strong problem-solving skills so they can approach new challenges with confidence.

My tutoring sessions focus on breaking math concepts down step-by-step so students understand the why behind the process rather than simply memorizing procedures.
During lessons, I work with students to:
• identify learning gaps
• practice problem-solving strategies
• strengthen foundational math skills
• build confidence in their abilities
For online tutoring, I use an interactive whiteboard so students can show their thinking while we work through problems together. This allows me to guide them in real time and provide immediate feedback.
Each session is tailored to the student’s needs, whether they need help with homework, foundational math skills, or STAAR test preparation.

Details
The first session is a short introductory meeting where I will get to know your student and learn more about their goals and areas of difficulty. During this time, I will ask a few questions and have the student work through a couple of sample problems so I can quickly identify any learning gaps.
This helps me determine the best way to support your child and create a plan for future lessons. We will also review how online sessions work and answer any questions you may have.
