About Sushmitha
I am Sushmitha, known as Sushi Yogi, an Ashtanga teacher in the Krishnamacharya lineage. I trained at the source of Ashtanga at KPJAYI in Mysore under the late Sharath Jois and Saraswati, completing the Intermediate (Second) Series, with formal Hatha training at Kaivalyadhama and years of classical Vedanta study from my teens. I also hold a degree in Western Philosophy from the University of London, which shapes how I teach the why, not just the how.
I have practised for twenty years, since the age of eight, and taught full time for a decade: more than seven thousand sessions across three continents. I have worked with everyone from four-year-olds to pensioners, in shalas, studios and boardrooms, including yoga for refugee women through UN projects in East Africa and corporate wellness for teams at KPMG, Dashlane and Hyatt. I teach internationally at Stillpoint Yoga London and am a Liforme Ambassador. I am certified E-RYT 500 and AYI 200, and a registered Yoga Alliance continuing education provider.
I spent years resisting all of this before it became my calling, so I teach with empathy before solution and specificity over vague encouragement. Whether it is your first class or your thousandth, you get an experienced teacher who has sat in the struggle herself and will meet you exactly where you are.

Every session is one-to-one and built entirely around you: your body, your goals, your pace. Nothing generic, nothing to keep up with.
We begin with a full intake assessment of your practice history, any injuries and what you want to achieve, then I design customised sequences for your level. You get real-time adjustments and clear cues, a printable sequence guide to practise from between sessions, email support for your questions, and ongoing progress tracking so I always know exactly where you are.
Sessions run 60 minutes, weekly or fortnightly, held online over video so you can practise from anywhere in the UK with no commute and no schedule shuffle. Most students settle into the same day and time each week, which is what builds real momentum.
This work suits you if you have a specific injury or limitation that needs individual attention, you want to progress faster than a group setting allows, you have felt invisible in busy classes, or you are an experienced practitioner wanting refinement rather than a full programme. Complete beginners are equally welcome: no experience or flexibility required.
My teaching is rooted in the Ashtanga tradition I trained in at its source in Mysore. I name the pose, the Sanskrit term and the body part, because precision is what turns repetition into real progress, on the mat and in a calmer, steadier mind off it.
