About Alec
I am an enthusiastic, outgoing, second year Biologist at Oxford who is keen to help tutor students looking to improve their grades in Science and Maths subjects from GCSE through to A level. Having sat many of these exams myself recently, I understand the need to produce a hands on learning attitude whilst maintaining an enjoyable and stimulating environment to help boost a student's productivity. I am more than happy to work with students who are auditory, visual or kinesthetic learners and a big believer in matching the tuition process to the student.
I am very flexible regarding specific tutoring requests. I am happy to provide a broad overview of the course, addressing areas in which students may have a lack of understanding, or to provide in depth tutoring on specific aspects of the course which are proving difficult. I believe it can be beneficial to leave a student with work to carry out individually in their own time to help them gain a more independent grasp of a topic. I adhere closely to the specific exam’s syllabus and mark scheme and will generally move towards exam based practice as an individual moves closer to an exam date.
I have aptly demonstrated the skills required to be a successful tutor in various leadership roles that I have taken over the years. I have honed my managerial and timpekeeping skills through my role as a senior prefect and Oxbridge student. Furthermore my degree and exam results speak for a dedicated and motivated work ethic. In addition, the Oxford tutorial system is a fantastic platform through which I have developed my communication skills and ability to clearly express ideas.
