About Andressa

Want to learn Portuguese in a way that actually makes sense — and feels good?

Hi! I’m Andressa!
I’m a Brazilian educator with over 15 years of experience teaching Portuguese, literature, and culture in Brazil and the United States — including work with universities, consulates, and international academic institutions.

If you’re tired of classes that feel rigid,
focused only on grammar rules,
disconnected from real life and culture…

You’re in the right place.

My lessons are interactive, dialog-based, and engaging
I help you understand how Portuguese works — intuitively, not mechanically
️ Every lesson is personalized to your goals, rhythm, and interests

Complete beginner?
No problem at all. I’ll guide you step by step, from zero to real conversation — with confidence and joy ️

Already speak some Portuguese?
I’ll help you unlock fluency, expand vocabulary, and deepen cultural understanding — without pressure.

Questions, doubts, confusion?
We revisit concepts as many times as needed, until everything clicks
Learning should feel safe, not stressful.

I also specialize in Portuguese as a Heritage Language
I work with families who want to keep Portuguese alive at home, especially when children resist the language, or parents feel unsure how to transmit it with care.

As part of my work, I curate literature and learning materials designed to support identity, belonging, and language continuity — for children and parents. Language lives through stories, conversation, and shared experience.

Why do I teach?
Because language is not just communication — it’s identity, memory, and connection ️
And being an educator isn’t just what I do. It’s who I am.

I’m also the mother of a toddler, and I live this work every day at home. With care, playfulness, and intention, I’m constantly finding ways to keep Portuguese alive in our daily routine — through stories, conversation, music, and shared moments.

Raising my son with strong Brazilian roots, even while living abroad, has deepened my understanding of what families truly need: language that feels joyful, safe, and meaningful — not imposed.

That lived experience shapes everything I teach.
Portuguese can be nurtured with affection.
And when it is, it stays. ️

Over the years, I’ve seen how Portuguese can become a source of tension for families living abroad. My work is about transforming that tension into affection, confidence, and continuity.

I teach in English when needed, and I create inclusive learning spaces for multilingual and diverse learners
Technology-friendly (Zoom, Canvas, digital tools) — but always human-first

You’ll receive carefully designed materials, practical exercises, and guidance tailored to your life and goals
Learning can be rigorous and enjoyable — both things can coexist

Still curious?
Book a trial lesson and come experience Portuguese as language, culture, and belonging

How my lessons work

No two students are the same — and no two lessons are either.

Every class is carefully crafted around your goals, interests, and life context. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, including families learning Portuguese as a heritage language, always with close attention to the realities of multicultural households.

Lessons are dynamic and engaging — never repetitive or formulaic.
With children, we use role-play, stories, games, music, and imagination.
With teens and adults, we bring in music, literature, news, films, podcasts, cooking books, and everyday materials that reflect how Portuguese is actually lived and spoken.

️ Traveling to Brazil for a few weeks?
I’ll help you learn how to move around cities, communicate naturally, and feel confident in real-life situations.

Learning Portuguese for work, business, or academic purposes?
We focus on clear communication, cultural context, and the language you truly need.

Preparing for CELPE-Bras or advanced academic work?
I offer structured, in-depth preparation grounded in authentic texts and critical reading.

Complete beginner or advanced speaker — both are welcome.
My teaching combines clear structure with honest conversation, integrating grammar, fluency, and culture in a way that feels natural and effective.

Above all, learning with me is meaningful, practical, and human — Portuguese taught with care, intention, and joy.

My rates reflect my extensive experience and specialized training. I have over 15 years of professional teaching experience, including work with universities, consulates, and international academic institutions. I hold two master’s degrees — one in Portuguese as a Second Language and another in Brazilian Language and Culture — and I am currently completing a PhD in Latin American Cultural Studies.

All lesson materials are carefully curated and often created by me, tailored to each student’s goals, interests, and learning context. This includes authentic texts, cultural materials, media resources, and personalized activities designed to make learning effective, engaging, and relevant.

There are no additional fees for teaching materials or preparation time. Each lesson reflects not only the class time itself, but also the pedagogical planning, curatorial work, and individualized attention that support meaningful progress.
