About Bernardine
With a Ph.D., in sensory anthropology I advise and work as a researcher on health through food choices and social eating projects. Additionally I have worked for product and market research companies on food behaviour and choices, co-founded two successful food event and education companies, and am a member of the Guild of Food Writers and SAPERE (taste education) ASBL. Each holiday I work on HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) UK government programmes to cook for and teach multisensory food education to hundreds of under 13's. I am an experienced teacher and mentor of sensory skills for schools, family homes, and for individuals in work/home settings. Additional training includes gut-brain axis, gut health, food as medicine, natural chef and sustainable food skills. As a teacher I have a DBS and safeguarding certificates.

Hi I am a doctor in health humanities and a teaching chef who uses successful methods of Multisensory Food Education with children and adults to give confidence, enjoyment and diversity to eating. Ingredients and dishes will be explored online using the senses in short bespoke programmes to encourage a strong scaffolding of mindfulness, curiosity, and knowledge. Each sense - vision, sound, taste, touch and smell - will be attuned separately using fun, memorable and insightful activities. Then sensory skills will be refined further developing confidence in the wider features of each sense (e.g., there are 9+ forms of touch) and we will explore multisensory integration. I also work with food designers, cultural organisations and chefs to explore together the possibilities of creative multimodal events and novel eating experiences. There will be a mix of familiar and unfamiliar ingredients, dishes, techniques and ways of eating to support your journey into positive relationships with food which are attentive, perceptive, broadening and social.
