About Lina
Hey, my name is Lina, an aspiring future teacher. I am also a tutor at an institution for Primary English and Maths. My subjects include General Science, Biology and Maths Year 7-10 as well as primary. I also can speak Vietnamese as a Second language.
I am currently in my third year in my teaching course at Victoria University, having undertaken two placements in primary and secondary settings. I have experience with different types of learners so, I ensure that all my lessons are tailored to each student, each getting the maximum benefit of every tutor session. I try to adapt the sessions according to your own goals that you want to achieve as a student so, I am keen to get to know you as individuals and learners.

A typical lesson can range from 1-2 hours max per session to ensure students are absorbing the information at a good pace. I tend to use a lot of visual examples demonstrating to students skills and techniques they can use to become independent learners. I have many resources for secondary students (Science and Math) including, worksheets, textbook chapters and, exams. A typical secondary tutor lesson will include a pre-test to test prior knowledge, following along with examples and worksheets/activities for consolidation. There will be unit tests to ensure students can understand the concepts. I will follow the curriculum closely and plan lessons accordingly. If students have a separate book that they want to go through occasionally, that would be fine too.
For primary students (Math), basic math skills involving algorithm and worded problems are prioritised and practiced often so they have these skills before high school. This will be done via demonstrations, worksheets, and various activities based on the students' level.
For primary students (English), students will be expected to rotate between comprehension, writing, and editing skills based on their level. An example of activities includes editing a paragraph using the appropriate punctuation and spelling or reading a paragraph and answering questions varying on their level.
