About Isobel

I am a language learner, currently learning Spanish and refining my French at degree-level. I understand how language learning works, why certain mistakes happen and can work with your personal motivations for learning French. My lessons would be an open space to practice conversation and use your interests as a way to access your target language.

Maybe you want to brush up on your knowledge and pronunciation before your own year abroad, and maybe you'd like some cultural advice too. I've got you covered!

About the class

My lessons would typically last an hour, but could work to fit around you. I would focus on conversation practise as I am convinced that speaking is the best way to learn a language. As I am still in education, I am relatively fresh out of school and can understand the types of tasks you may have to do for school/early uni years etc. I could teach anyone from children to adults.

I have known Isobel and her family for some years. I have always found Isobel to be reliable, consistent, friendly, conscientious and trustworthy. She has many qualities which make her ideal for tutoring: an advanced level of French language and linguistic knowledge and has a range of other languages to an advanced level. She has embraced the literary, social and historical culture of France as well as the language. Her native English language standard is sophisticated. Isobel has a mature and calm nature and a widely appreciated sense of humour.

I would highly recommend Isobel as a French tutor. I needed some refresher lessons and got recommended by a friend. I’m feeling much more confident about my French thanks to Isobel’s patient teaching style and wouldn’t hesitate to schedule more sessions in the future!

I have worked on multiple projects with Isobel over the last 4 years, the last of which we spent in France together on work placements. On this trip, she showed great proficiency and confidence using the French language. In every project I have worked with her on, she has been very organised and easy to work with. I have no doubt that her character and experiences would make her an excellent tutor.
