I normally plan out my lessons by talking to the student and assessing their needs, i.e. what topics they are struggling to understand at school, if they have received any feedback from a test, etc. From there, I then teach the topic for the lesson, focusing on the areas that the student highlighted, and giving them plenty of time to take notes and ask any questions they may have. Then towards the end of the lesson, I quiz my student or ask them to explain back to me a part of the topic I taught. I also often set some exam questions on that topic for homework, helping ensure it is solidified in the student's mind. I will then mark these before the following lesson and follow up on revisiting the topics they have got incorrect. When going over these exam questions, I try to point out any specific points that I feel keep coming up in mark schemes, helping with their exam technique.
