About Başak Temel

Hello! I’m Başak—a TV presenter, sociologist, and communication specialist.

For over 25 years, I’ve worked across broadcast media, corporate communication, and international project consulting, helping professionals and individuals speak with confidence and clarity.

Beyond my professional life, I’m a mother of twins, a Latin dancer (Salsa & Bachata), and an artist with three solo exhibitions under my belt. I love bringing this vibrant, creative energy into our lessons!

My goal is to make learning Turkish a fun, customized, and enjoyable experience tailored entirely around your personal interests. Whenever needed, I provide full English support so you can relax, overcome speaking anxiety, and enjoy every step of your journey!

My Approach as a Communication Coach & Speaking Mentor

1. Teaching Methods & Techniques

Learning a language should be fun, engaging, and deeply personal! That’s why every single lesson is fully customized around your unique interests, hobbies, and goals. Whether you want to talk about art, pop culture, business, travel, or daily life, we build a tailored program around topics you actually enjoy discussing!

My teaching method is built on immersive, conversational learning backed by certified techniques in Mindfulness, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and EFT. Rather than focusing on rigid grammar drills, I create a warm, lively, and psychologically safe space where you can relax, smile, and speak freely without any fear of making mistakes. Drawing from my 25+ years in broadcast television, corporate consulting, and public speaking, I incorporate:

* Interactive & Fun Dialogue: Natural, enjoyable conversations centered on your personal interests and real-world scenarios.
* Vocal & Diction Dynamics: Simple guidance on pronunciation, tone, and rhythm so you sound natural, smooth, and confident.
* Bilingual Support: Full English support (C1/C2 advanced level) whenever you need to clarify ideas or bridge gaps, ensuring your learning experience is always smooth and stress-free.

2. A Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes)

Every session is tailored to your mood and personal goals, but a standard flow looks like this:

* Warm-Up & Check-In (5-10 mins): A friendly, informal catch-up over coffee or tea to set a relaxed, comfortable mood for the day.
* Core Conversational Practice (30-35 mins): An exciting, interactive discussion on a custom topic chosen just for you—from daily life and culture to professional scenarios or your personal passions.
* Friendly Feedback & Refinement (10 mins): A constructive, easygoing review of new vocabulary and pronunciation nuances without interrupting your natural flow.
* Wrap-Up & Mood Boost (5 mins): A quick summary of key expressions, leaving you energized and motivated for your next steps!

3. What Sets Me Apart

* Tailored & Fun Approach: I don't follow rigid, one-size-fits-all textbooks. Your curriculum is uniquely designed around what fascinates and inspires you!
* Media & Corporate Expertise: With over 25 years as a TV broadcaster and corporate communications consultant, I bring rich energy, warmth, and real-world communication secrets to our sessions.
* Confidence First: I view language as a joyful tool for self-expression and human connection. We prioritize speaking confidence and enjoyment above all else.
* Cross-Cultural Insight: As a sociologist (Middle East Technical University graduate), I bring deep cultural awareness and engaging perspectives to every conversation.

4. Who These Lessons Are For

* Levels: Beginners (A1-A2) looking for a friendly, supportive environment to start speaking, and Intermediate learners (B1-B2) aiming to boost fluency and natural expression.

Goals:

* Expats, professionals, and language enthusiasts who want to enjoy learning Turkish through fun, personalized, and practical conversations.
* Anyone looking to overcome speaking anxiety, build clear diction, and express themselves authentically with a warm, experienced mentor.
