About Jahson

My name is Jahson Menchaca, and I am a Computer Science student at the University of Texas at Arlington. I have completed coursework in College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I-III, Linear Algebra, University Physics 1-2, Engineering Probability, and Data Structures & Algorithms (in Java and C).

I know many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because of how the concepts are taught. Often taught to memorize equations rather than understand what they mean.

My learning method:

- Focus on the reasoning behind each step over memorization.
- Ask students to solve the problem first to notice gaps in understanding
- Ask students to explain their thought process to see faulty logic and fix intuition
- Test a student's understanding by having them solve a similar problem

What sets me apart:
I am a Computer Science student at UTA who has completed the STEM prerequisites that many students struggle with. I know the value of being able to ask questions without being judged and needing more time.

Who the lessons are for:
I primarily tutor high school and college students in mathematics and introductory programming.
