Introduction - Begin by discussing what it means to be a friend. Use visual aids to illustrate the characteristics of friendship (e.g., kindness, sharing, listening). - Ask students to share their ideas about what makes a good friend. Write their responses on the whiteboard. Direct Instruction - Introduce the concept of initiating conversation. Use a social story that describes how to say "hello" and ask someone to play. - Discuss appropriate body language (e.g., making eye contact, smiling). - Highlight examples of friendly and unfriendly behaviours using visuals (e.g., sharing toys vs. grabbing).
