About Helen

Hello! I'm Helen Berciya, a dedicated Special Educator with experience teaching students across curricula

I specialize in supporting children with reading, writing, spelling, attention, and learning challenges through personalized, engaging, and evidence-based teaching methods. My goal is to help every student build confidence, become an independent learner, and achieve their full potential.

I provide a supportive learning environment where every child feels encouraged to learn, grow, and succeed at their own pace.

About the class

I believe that every child can learn when provided with the right support, strategies, and encouragement. My teaching is student-centred, evidence-based, and tailored to each learner's strengths, interests, and learning needs. I focus not only on improving academic performance but also on building confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
My Teaching Techniques and Methods
I use a variety of engaging and structured teaching strategies, including:
Differentiated instruction based on the learner's abilities and pace.
Multisensory teaching techniques to strengthen understanding and retention.
Graphic organisers and mind maps to organise ideas effectively.
Step-by-step scaffolding to make complex concepts easier to understand.
Reading and writing intervention strategies for children experiencing literacy difficulties.
Executive functioning and study skills support, including planning, organisation, time management, and self-monitoring.
Inquiry-based learning and critical thinking activities.
Interactive discussions, picture prompts, Think and Share activities, and real-life applications to enhance communication and writing skills.
Continuous formative assessment with constructive feedback to monitor progress and celebrate growth.
