About James
I have been tutoring for over a year in the following subjects history, reading, basic math, social sciences, geography and English. I have taught over ten students in a one on one educational setting at the students home. Also, in karate I have instructed over hundred children in my five years of instruction. These classes usually hold about twenty five students with ages ranging from five year olds to adults. My students are very appreciative of the results they obtain because of our tutoring sessions. These results encompass students with a D or F in the class getting a much better grade or doing spectacular on exams. Also, I have helped them become enthusiastic about education and learning. They are always happy to see me and have stated that I make learning dull material fun.

My plan is to become a teacher in the near future because I love education and see it as a key to success. My passion for teaching began in a martial arts class. When I received my black belt in karate, I became a instructor. It showed me how much I enjoyed teaching. My focus as a tutor is to help students achieve a passion for education to reach far and beyond their educational goals. I plan to fully dedicate myself to my students so they gain a greater understanding of the subjects and fulfill their educational expectations. I give tutoring lessons to a range of students from middle school to college. My methodology varies from subject to subject. For math I always do my best to help students with what their struggling the most rather than help them do the entirety of their homework. Furthermore, for history I like to create flash cards and study sheets to make it easier for my students to be able to grasp the vast amounts of information. Also, we read together passages from the their history books pertaining to the material the students needs to learn and then we discuss it to have a deeper and more holistic understanding of the information. Becoming a karate instructor and having tutored for over a year now has made me patient and understanding because I know that all students learn differently.
