In this hands-on bootcamp, you'll learn Python by building your own Discord bot from the ground up.
You don't need prior programming experience. We'll start with the fundamentals and gradually turn them into a working project that you can continue developing after the bootcamp.
Lessons are online and one-to-one, with small-group sessions also available if you'd like to learn with friends. We start with a free 15-minute introduction to understand your goals and experience level.
What you'll build and learn:
- Python fundamentals: variables, functions, loops, and working with data
- Setting up a Discord bot and development environment
- Bot commands and events
- Responding to messages and user interactions
- Buttons, menus, and embeds
- Working with APIs
- Storing data with a database
- Debugging and handling common problems
- Keeping your bot token secure
- Hosting your bot so it can stay online
- Learn by building
Each session adds a new feature to your own bot rather than simply completing isolated programming exercises.
For the final project, you choose what you want your bot to do. Ideas include:
- A game bot
- A study helper
- A utility bot
- A server moderation tool
- A reminder or score-tracking bot
I'll guide you through the project while explaining the programming concepts behind what you're building.
The goal isn't just to finish a Discord bot. You'll also develop practical Python skills and learn how to approach a larger programming project.
We'll use Zoom or Google Meet with screen sharing and free development tools. No paid software is required.
