About Ava

Having recently completed the Leaving Certificate myself, while also being a competitive dancer and athlete, I understand the challenges students face when managing a content-heavy subject like Biology. I aim to share the study techniques, revision strategies and exam preparation methods that helped me achieve my result while dealing with the time demands of juggling 7 Leaving Cert subjects and high level sport. Knowing what information to prioritise, and being guided to understand rather then rote learn, significantly cuts content, and time spent on a singular subject.
My backround in studying HL Chemistry also allows me to better and more simply explain some of the harder concepts in HL Biology such as genetics, photosynthesis and respiration on a molecular level.

About the class

My online Leaving Certificate Biology grinds are designed to help students develop a thorough understanding of the course, strengthen their recall and maximise their potential in examinations.

Approach:
I place a strong emphasis on understanding biological concepts rather than simply memorising information. My lessons combine clear, simplified explanations with active recall techniques, helping students retain information and apply their knowledge confidently.

I provide personal, clear, and condensed handwritten notes and diagrams to make complex topics more accessible. Grinds also focus heavily on exam technique, including interpreting questions, structuring answers and identifying the key information needed to achieve maximum marks.

I believe that beginning high-mark-potential topics early is particularly important, allowing students sufficient time to consolidate their understanding and develop confidence before examinations.

Lesson Structure:
€25 per hour with each lesson lasting 60 minutes.
Conducted online through Microsoft Teams, using screen sharing for interactive explanations, notes and exam question practice.
Lessons tailored to each student's individual strengths, weaknesses and learning goals.
A combination of topic explanations, active recall, revision and exam-style questions.

Qualifications & Experience:
I achieved 99% in Higher Level Biology in the 2026 Leaving Certificate, as well as holding a H1 average throughout 5th and 6th year. I have always had a deep interest in science and am am currently studying Physiotherapy.

Who Are My Lessons For?
My grinds are suitable for 5th and 6th year Leaving Certificate Biology students, whether aiming for a H1, improving their current grades or building confidence in challenging topics. I have reviewed the new curriculum and example papers for the amended course and matched my notes and grinds methods appropriately.

My goal is to make Biology a manageable and maximum point rewarding subject while helping each student achieve their personal goals.
