About Jeremy

I’m Jeremy D., a passionate biology and genetics tutor with a strong academic background and hands-on research experience. I’ve studied gene editing and nanomedicine at Rice University and worked alongside a Harvard professor researching cancer and cellular biology. As an AP Biology student and Science National Honor Society tutor, I’ve helped students from middle school through college understand complex scientific concepts and achieve academic success. I’m committed to providing clear, personalized lessons that not only help you excel in exams but also foster a deeper understanding of biology and its real-world applications. With my bilingual skills in English and Spanish, I ensure that my lessons are accessible to a wide range of students. Your success is my priority, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way!

About the class

My tutoring approach is built on deep conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and real-world applications. Rather than rote memorization, I help students grasp the "why" behind biological processes, making complex topics like genetics, cellular biology, and cancer research more intuitive and engaging.

Teaching Method & Techniques:
I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, using interactive discussions, problem-solving exercises, and visual models to clarify difficult topics. I integrate case studies, research findings, and real-life medical applications to connect science to the real world. My experience studying at Rice University and researching cancer biology at Harvard allows me to provide unique insights beyond the standard curriculum.

Typical Lesson Plan:
Foundation & Understanding: We begin with a diagnostic discussion to assess prior knowledge and identify gaps.
Concept Breakdown: I use analogies, diagrams, and step-by-step explanations to simplify complex ideas.
Application & Problem-Solving: We work through practice questions, real-world case studies, and lab-based scenarios.
Interactive Review: I encourage students to teach back concepts, reinforcing their understanding and confidence.
Guided Practice & Mastery: I provide customized exercises and exam strategies to solidify knowledge.
What Sets Me Apart:
Research & Academic Excellence: My studies at Rice and research at Harvard give me an advanced perspective on biology, genetics, and cancer research.
Personalized Learning: Every student has different strengths—I adapt my teaching to match their learning style.
Beyond the Textbook: I incorporate current scientific advancements, bioethics discussions, and experimental insights to make lessons engaging and relevant.
Bilingual Support: Fluent in English and Spanish, I can teach students in both languages for better comprehension.
Who the Lessons Are For:
I tutor high school and early college students, including AP Biology, Honors Biology, and introductory genetics and cellular biology courses. Whether you're preparing for exams, struggling with concepts, or looking to deepen your knowledge, I’ll help you master the material with confidence.
