About David
I am an Applied Mathematics student at UC Berkeley with a strong academic background in calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, and programming. Before transferring to Berkeley, I maintained a 4.0 GPA at Las Positas College while completing honors mathematics coursework and faculty approved projects.
I enjoy mathematics most when I understand the reasoning behind a method, and I bring that same approach to tutoring. My goal is to make difficult material feel structured and manageable while helping students become confident solving problems independently.

I focus on helping students understand why a method works rather than simply memorizing steps. I break problems into smaller pieces, use clear examples, and adjust my explanations based on how the student thinks about the material. When possible, I connect algebraic ideas to graphs, geometry, or intuitive interpretations so that the concepts are easier to remember and apply.
A typical lesson starts by identifying what the student is currently working on and where they are getting stuck. We then review the underlying concept, work through an example together, and move toward having the student solve problems independently while explaining their reasoning. I can also focus sessions around homework, exam preparation, review of weak areas, or getting ahead in a course.
I tutor high school and college students in Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Calculus I–III, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics.
