About Jonah
I trained at Rose Bruford College, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Acting. Though it took me five years of auditioning to get there. I know exactly what that room feels like, because I sat in it, again and again, before I got in.
Since then I've worked as an Actor across stage, screen, and commercials. For the past couple of years I've also been directing and teaching the first-year actors at Rose Bruford. I recently sat on the panel for the college's final-round auditions. I've seen what gets someone through the door from both sides.
Here's the thing about coaching for auditions: it's only partly about technique, and frankly, that's easily taught.
It's also about getting you comfortable enough to mess up in the room. Most people walk in trying to protect a perfect version of themselves. The ones who get in are the ones who let themselves respond truthfully, even when it's messy. That's what we'll actually work on.

Whether you're preparing for a drama school audition, building your acting technique from the ground up, or want more confidence and presence in front of people, we'll build sessions around where you're starting from and what you actually need.
Audition Preparation
* Selecting and breaking down monologues, matched to the schools you're applying to
* Working through recall structure and what each school is actually looking for

* Building the confidence to take risks — and recover — in the room
Acting Technique
* Truthful, moment-to-moment listening and responding, rather than "performing" a result
* Removing tension, overthinking, and self-consciousness so that your personality can come show through
* Scene work for stage and screen
Text Work
* Breaking down character and circumstance from the script
* Making choices that are specific and personal, not generic
* Adjusting performance between stage and screen
Confidence & Presence
* Working under observation without freezing up
* Learning to fail well — most auditions are lost by actors protecting a "perfect" version of themselves, not by actors making bold choices
I teach from both sides of the table: I've spent the past two years teaching first-year actors at Rose Bruford College, and I sit on the panel for their final-round auditions. So this isn't guesswork about what schools are looking for.
