About Janissia
I am a law school graduate currently employed as a public defender, barred in New York. I graduated from American University Washington College of Law and Northwestern University. I was a Dean's Fellow, law clerk and research assistant. I have mentored students to help them understand the materials and learn how to write in a way that is compelling and geared to receive high grades. I also have worked to help people write their personal statements when applying to law and graduate school, as well as helped review resumes to help people stand out as an applicant.

My teaching methodology is rooted in the idea that there are no bad students, just people who have not been taught to their strengths. I have the ability to see individuals and their hidden talents, and use that as a way to help them see results. As a tutor, I not only help with the materials that have been given, but give outside instruction and assignment to help students build the fundamentals for writing.
