About Story
My name is Story Ng and I am a professional singer-songwriter and vocal coach originally from California. I have experience in many genres of the voice, working for 6 years as a musical theater vocal coach and director for a youth theater company, playing professionally for 5+ years as a folk/pop artist, 4+ years teaching various jazz and concert choirs, and 3 years taking on leadership roles in a cappella groups and rock bands.
I specialize in working with young singers who are looking to gain confidence in and understand their voice. As a student myself at Berklee College of Music, I am surrounded by constant inspiration to grow in my teaching methods.
My favorite part of teaching is watching each student find their voice. That special moment when they unlock that new part of their range, or belt that high note they’ve always dreamt of hitting. I’ve seen miracles happen and I believe that each student is already capable of discovering those miracles within themselves, and I am here to help them see that.

If you feel inspired to start or grow as a singer, but you’re just lacking the skills and confidence to unlock your potential, my lessons are a great choice for you!
My methods of teaching revolve around identifying and then working towards a specific goal for each individual student based on their experience level. I believe in patience, self-love, and that not everybody learns in the same ways.
For a typical lesson plan, after getting to know my student, I like to start with a vocal warmup that targets and strengthens the weakest parts of the vocal range, then move on to the stronger parts. I usually encourage my students to pick a song of their choosing in any style that particularly challenges them as a vocalist, then I begin to break down that song with my student and work towards making them confident and strong in their favorite styles.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I specialize in working with students that may have special learning needs, such as ADHD, autism, or anything that may require special care, attention, or motivation.
Open to all levels of experience, but specializing in beginners of either a new style, or singing as a whole.
