About Harry

Hello! I'm an actor based in London. I graduated from Rose Bruford College in 2008 with a BA (Hons) in Acting. Since then I have performed with the RSC (Much Ado About Nothing; Wendy & Peter Pan; The Christmas Truce), in the West End and Off-Broadway. Most recently I have been working with NYC's Life Jacket Theatre Company on their critically acclaimed play America Is Hard to See. In addition to my acting work, I am an audition coach and workshop facilitator. Former students are now studying at LAMDA, Yale School of Drama & NYU. I am also an Associate Artist of Bard City, running Shakespeare workshops for actors and enthusiasts of all levels.

About the class

Auditions can be daunting to tackle on your own. My focus is on giving you tools to help you navigate around any roadblocks and to feel confident in your choices. I coach students for drama school auditions and professional actors for various gigs. Former students are now studying at LAMDA, Yale School of Drama and NYU. I also run Shakespeare workshops through Bard City. As an acting coach, my approach is to understand fully where my clients are in their process and to build from there with positivity and encouragement. In our sessions we will: - Explore text to find depth of meaning and structure. - Investigate your character's inner life and their given circumstances. - Work on physicality and relationship with the space. - Build a solid framework for each piece in order to find the freedom to play in the moment. - Find techniques for inner confidence and relaxation before and during your audition. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

I know Harry as a teacher through his work with Bard City Shakespeare, and as a private audition coach. I can’t recommend him enough. He has helped me take audition material I was deeply self-conscious about and transform it into performance-ready pieces that I feel great about. He's a particularly knowledgeable resource on Shakespeare, and gave me spot-on monologue recommendations when I was looking for new audition material. Whether classical or contemporary, Harry has a knack for de-mystifying the work in an accessible way, and helping actors find what is most important in a scene. What's more, he is patient, kind, and has an excellent sense of humor. The best!

Harry is my favorite acting coach I have ever been to - he is totally versatile and is really helpful no matter what style of theatre you bring him - classical or contemporary, comedy, drama - he's even great with cabaret!
I brought Harry two monologues which I’d been doing for years and which I was sick to death of - within the course of an hour he had me thinking about both in new ways, and genuinely excited to bring either to future auditions.
And, to top it off, he is incredibly kind and smart and able to tailor any session to fit the needs of that particular person: I genuinely cannot recommend Harry highly enough!!

If you're looking for a classical/Shakespearean monologue coach or acting teacher, look no further than Harry. Cannot recommend his coaching enough for material choice, detailed notes, clarity, and feedback that will make your auditions sing in a repeatable, personal way.

Harry is WONDERFUL: part mentor, part wizard, and always your biggest cheerleader! He meets you where you’re at and creates a space for you to investigate, experiment and take risks! He is a master at getting you out of your own way. Rather than having a prescriptive approach, he asks questions to unleash your instincts and imagination. I have been able to consistently surprise myself, and discover a new ease and playfulness in my work since I started coaching with him. He is particularly gifted with text work – you will find whole new levels of detail and specificity. Training with Harry has allowed me to relax and trust myself and the work I've done. I see him before all important auditions. Train with him!
