About Evan
I'm a student at TTU in my third year of mechanical engineering. I'm originally from El Paso, Texas, where I went to high school at a PLTW engineering program high school, where I received multiple honors and graduated with a GPA of 4.2. I have tutored students and peers in science, music, and all forms of 6th-12th grade math. I have a more unique approach to teaching, focusing on building understanding from the ground up and assisting the learning process with visuals or physical representations. I have tutored for years, and have additional learning experience from my mother, who is a district teacher of EPISD with over 20 years of experience. I am very patient and understanding of a student's needs and won't hesitate to tailor the learning experience to the individual, no matter the subject.

Most math tutors use repetition and memorization to have students learn the material. This is ineffective and time-consuming. My method is different and involves understanding the 'why?' behind what you're learning. I teach the basic logic behind mathematical rules and formulas in order to create a fundamental understanding of the material, rather than drilling problems until you remember the steps.
