About Willma

As a young child, I used to play school with my dolls and teddy bears. I knew then that I loved teaching. I have been teaching all major school subjects since 1980, and always find different ways to help my students improve their reading, writing and spelling skills. This inspired me to specialize in Reading and Writing instruction.

Today, I am a Reading Specialist, an educator who focuses on strengthening literacy skills by figuring out what works for you. Taking my tutoring classes provides an opportunity to determine what you need to learn and how it should be taught, so that you become stronger, better readers and writers.

Students in grades K-6 who want a great start and/or continued support in their Language Arts courses, will receive a set of pre-assessments that will determine which literacy skills need strengthening.

From that data, I will develop an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP), which will include resources, lessons and activities that are needed.

I will conduct ongoing mini-assessments as the sessions continue, to determine when and if adjustments to the ILP need to be made.
Student progress will be monitored at each session.
