About Lauren
I started playing violin at the age of 8, and now as a 16-year-old high school student, I've learned that violin isn't only a technical challenge, but also an expressive challenge. I have been concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra, as well as the Howard County Elementary School GT Orchestra (2015-2016) and Howard County Middle School GT Orchestra (2018-2019). I have won First Prize in the Spring Plus Music Festival (2016) and AAMS International Competition (2017)
Second place in the BSYO Concerto Competition (2017), and have been a winner of the Columbia Orchestra Concerto Competition Junior Division and played “Tzigane” by Maurice Ravel in 2019.
I was also a Second Prize winner of the National Chamber Ensembles Competition 2020, and the FMMC Concerto competition. I believe every musician has their own strengths and talents, and hope to inspire a young student to want to become a stronger musician and spread the love for music.

I am a high school student with lots of experience in both orchestra performances, and solo performances, with and without accompaniment, so I can help aid beginner students who want to learn violin! A typical lesson is 30 mins- 1 hour, where we will warm up, go over technique, and play optional pieces of choice. The warm-up will consist of scales and an etude provided by me before playing the piece of choice. Homework will be written in a separate email, expected to be completed by the student before the next lesson. For brand new students, we will go over correct posture and note reading, as well as tips to improve over time before trying skills to improve tone and comfort with the instrument.
