About Jeff
I started teaching high school Spanish in 2006, teaching Spanish 1 and 2. I taught for 7 years, before switching to my other loves - art and animation. Since then my gringo accent has started to flourish, sadly. However, my knowledge and mastery of the language has always stayed with me. My love for the Spanish language and the people who speak it everyday has grown exponentially. I loved teaching Spanish, and that's why I want to be your tutor! Seeing a student finally get something that they couldn't understand before is the most rewarding thing to me as a teacher.

Yes, you need to memorize vocabulary words in order to be able to pass tests and quizzes. But wouldn't it be so much easier if you could remember the words being used from a memorable experience? The way I like to teach is by telling stories with Spanish, and using a creative, visual approach (I like to draw).
To learn grammar, it really helps if your teacher learned Spanish as a second language too. It's funny, but what really helped me to learn Spanish was REALLY learning English grammar. By doing that, I was able to find the same patterns between the two languages, and tie Spanish in with what I ALREADY knew--English!
A typical lesson starts with you catching me up on how things are going in class. You'll share with me what you need help with, and then we'll get started! I'll always start teaching the words and concepts as if you don't know anything about them yet. Based on how you respond, I'll know exactly how to proceed. Together we'll build stories, draw visually interesting pictures that relate to what you're learning, and create memorable experiences so that you can recall your words more easily for tests.
My lessons are for middle/high school Spanish 1 and 2.
