About James
Throughout my educational career, I have always been willing to help my peers in topics they didn't understand, and often worked with them through difficult problems until they were confident with the topic. I then began to tutor privately, and I have been very successful in increasing my student's confidence with their weakest areas, and improving their chances of achieving A*s at GCSE. I am able to tutor up to A-Level standard; I have worked ahead of the class and self-taught the spec to A-Level Maths and Further Mathematics. I am also able to prepare students for University Entrance Exams, such as STEP, MAT and the TMUA, and have a bank of past Oxbridge interview questions for prep for CS and Mathematics interviews.
About me: I am a high achieving student applying to study computer science at Oxford. In my free time I design and operate the lighting and sound for performances at local theatres. I have an affinity for solving logical and mathematical problems, and that is why I am best suited to help with the mathematical and scientific subjects! I have a fond passion in defining proofs for certain mathematical formulae, so that I have a deeper understanding.

I adapt my teaching methods to suit my tutees.
At the very beginning, I would like to consult with my students to find the areas that they find the best, and those that need work, to set a baseline. I would then back this up with a mock style test to quantify this, and find the areas that need improvement - exam technique is also a big factor. I will tailor each lesson to the student's needs and learning style, and ensure a deeper understanding of the subject.
I will find problems of varying difficulty and work through these with the student, slowly decreasing the amount of help I give until my students are able to tackle the problems independently.
I also like to give tasks for my students to work on in-between lessons, and then we will go through these together at the beginning of the next lesson.
