About Ronan
I am a Yale-trained MD/PhD and current dermatology resident at NYU Langone who is passionate about helping students achieve ambitious academic and professional goals. My educational background includes a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience, a Ph.D. in cancer immunology, and an M.D. from Yale School of Medicine. Along the way, I scored in the 99th percentile on the MCAT, earned USMLE scores of 256 on Step 1 and 268 on Step 2 CK, and successfully navigated highly competitive admissions at every stage of my training, from Yale School of Medicine to one of the nation's top dermatology residency programs. These experiences have shaped both my academic journey and my approach to mentorship.

I tutor students ranging from high school through residency. My subjects include biology, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, chemistry, pathology, pharmacology, immunology, neuroscience, and medical school coursework. I also provide preparation for the MCAT, USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, Step 3, PANCE, and NCLEX. Beyond tutoring, I help applicants navigate graduate school, medical school, PA school, nursing school, and residency applications through personal statement editing, CV review, mock interviews, and application strategy. Having successfully navigated these milestones myself while mentoring numerous applicants, I understand both what admissions committees value and how to help applicants present their strongest, most authentic application.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding over memorization. Every session is tailored to each student's goals, learning style, and current level of knowledge. Whether we're mastering difficult concepts, improving test-taking strategy, or refining an application, my goal is to build confidence while helping students think critically and independently.
