About Andrea
I have been a writer (on multiple platforms, from film to YouTube to B2B copy) for most of my life, and have taught scriptwriting at Manchester Metropolitan University, where I achieved my PhD. I moved to the UK in 2010, to achieve a BA and Masters at Aberystwyth University, and have lived in the North West of England for the past decade or so. As well as teaching and writing for the screen, I am active in the local theatre scene, for which I direct, sometimes write, more rarely act. I am native Italian speaker, having grown up on the Southwestern coast of the country, and I consider my English to be on the same level.

I have been teaching Script and Creative Writing since I was a PhD student at Manchester Metropolitan University, and since I began teaching I have learnt to tailor my lessons to the needs and skills of my students. An understanding of structure forms the bedrock of any creative writing, and real-life examples from produced films and shows, paired with in-depth analysis and writing exercises are a great way to learn. But more importantly, I like approaching my students the way a director approaches his actors, fostering a collaborative environment in which my guidance serves to develop and deepen the student's creativity and skill, pushing their work well above and beyond the average. While my speciality is Script Writing, I can tailor my lessons to any form of Creative Writing.
