About Austin
As stated before, i've toured with known acts like Curtis Grimes (you can spot me in the music videos of his #1 Texas Radio hits "Put My Money On That" and "Still"!), studied guitar at the college level, have recorded in Nashville, TN recording studios, and have played guitar onstage in nearly every state in the USA, from gigs in downtown Manhattan, NYC all the way to Los Angeles, California, and studied guitar at the college level; I like to think my Music Theory and "guitar chops" bona-fides are hard to challenge! I've taught guitar lessons since I was 19 years old to players of all ages and skill levels and slowly but surely have learned what workd and what doesn't work in a lesson; and how to adjust my teaching style to best suit the needs of a given student. I look forward to working with you and providing you with a personalized and professional guitar lesson experience.

I've toured most of the USA and beyond with artists like Curtis Grimes, Rance May, Jake Dodds, Jesse Daniel, and David Adam Byrnes. With those artists, I've been able to open for massive hit artists like Tracy Byrd, Gene Watson, and Brad Paisley, to name a few! I've lived in Nashville and frequently had recording sessions at Parker Daniel's Neon Cactus Recording.
As well as just being a working musician, i've attented college as a jazz guitar performance major at both Austin Community College and Cornish College of the Arts. I've also taught guitar students weekly for the better part of the last ten years, so I have ample teaching experience.
I like to combine my "academic" music theory knowledge, my "practical guitar" knowledge from gigging/touring/recording professionally, with what a given students goals and interests are to create lessons that are tailored to keep you engaged with and help you succeed on your individual musical journey; whether that's a desire to play professionally or maybe a desire to just expand your skillset and repetoire for when you play for fun or in front of friends and family. I'm well-versed in many styles and have taught (and am still willing to teach) students of all skill levels, from beginners with their first acoustic guitars to intermediate or more advanced players looking for someone with knowledge specific to guiding them move up to the "next level" of their guitar-playing abilities. At the end of the day our lessons are about you, what you find fun or most interesting about the guitar, and what you want to learn - i'm not the type to force a pre-made lesson plan on anyone or make you do dozens of reps of an exercise you don't even like; if you decide to work with me, we'll come up with a gameplan for lessons that looks best to you.

Details
I'm not a stickler for being on the dot; I will always be respectful of your time and be ready to teach at our scheduled start time, but if we get on a roll and you feel that you want to continue past an hour, I often tend to do that; call it a "generous hour" for most lessons unless one or both of us need to be somewhere else after the lesson is scheduled to end.
I'm also not one to get out of shape about folks being late, chastising someone for letting time get away from them or for factors they couldn't control is a horrible way to start a lessson. If you're the type, despite trying your very best to
be punctual, that's always running out the door 5 minutes late and then running back in "real quick" to grab something you forgot, well, I might be the best teacher for you!
