About Andre

I am former Cinematographer turned WGA screenwriter who spent the majority of my career on sets shooting everything from music videos to commercials to low budget feature films. I have Directed many of the music videos that I shot.

Later in my career, I became a comic book and graphic novel writer who has published over 10 comics and written on a dozen more. Most recently, I reinvented myself again as a screenwriter having sold a feature film script to Sony.

I am constantly creating and learning and am passionate about passing my knowledge to the next generation.

About the class

To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking process, from scripting to pre-production to production, and to teach them how to convert a film or TV script into a graphic novel script.

I use the Flanagan(Acclaimed Horror director Mike Flanagan)/Howard Four Quadrant Scripting technique.

A typical lesson plan would be to learn the difference between Plot and Story or the Boy meets Girl Analogy. Time will be spent on learning the Production Triangle.

What sets me apart as a tutor:

Practical experience: As a tutor, I bring real-world experience in the filmmaking industry, having worked on various film projects. This allows me to provide practical insights and examples throughout the lessons.

Interactive approach: I believe in interactive learning, and my teaching methods involve engaging students in discussions, activities, and hands-on exercises to reinforce their understanding of the concepts.

Individualized attention: I strive to create a supportive learning environment where each student's unique strengths and weaknesses are recognized. I provide personalized feedback and guidance to help students develop their skills effectively.

Updated knowledge: I stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in filmmaking, ensuring that my students receive the most relevant and current information. I incorporate industry insights and case studies into the lessons to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

Who the lessons are for:
These lessons are designed for aspiring filmmakers, film students, or individuals with a passion for storytelling and visual arts. The course is suitable for beginners who want to learn the filmmaking process from scratch, as well as intermediate-level learners who want to enhance their skills and understanding of the craft. No prior filmmaking experience is necessary, but a basic understanding of storytelling principles would be beneficial.
