About Lauren
I hold a Bachelor of Music in String Performance and a Master of Music in Violin Studies. During my 9 years of teaching, I have worked with students ranging from complete beginners to developing performers. My interest in teaching grew through mentoring younger musicians and helping them overcome challenges that once seemed intimidating. These experiences inspired me to create lessons that are supportive, practical, and enjoyable. Watching students develop confidence continues to motivate my work.
My teaching philosophy centers on patience and adaptability. Every learner has unique strengths, challenges, and goals, so lessons are customized to reflect individual needs. I believe technical development should always support musical expression rather than exist separately from it. Students receive clear explanations, focused exercises, and encouraging feedback throughout their journey. This approach helps create lasting progress and stronger musicianship.
Outside teaching, I enjoy chamber music, concert attendance, and exploring violin repertoire from different musical periods. These interests help me bring fresh perspectives into lessons. Seeing students rediscover enjoyment in music and achieve personal goals is deeply rewarding. I strive to create an environment where learning feels positive and motivating. My goal is to help students build both skill and confidence through meaningful musical experiences.

My violin lessons are designed to help students develop a comfortable and rewarding relationship with their instrument. I focus on creating a calm learning environment where learners can improve technique without feeling pressured. Lessons cover bow movement, tone quality, intonation, posture, rhythm control, and musical phrasing through structured activities that encourage steady growth. Students are guided to understand not only how to play but also why certain techniques create better musical results. This helps build confidence and independence over time.
For learners returning after a long break, I use gentle review strategies that rebuild skills gradually. Activities include open-string warm-ups, slow scale practice, tone recovery exercises, and confidence-building repertoire. Students who struggle with performance nerves receive support through preparation techniques, focus exercises, and performance simulations. Every lesson is adjusted to the learner’s pace so progress feels realistic and sustainable. Encouragement and patience remain central to the learning process.
My goal is to help students enjoy making music while strengthening their abilities. As confidence grows, learners become more comfortable expressing themselves through violin performance. Lessons encourage persistence, self-belief, and musical curiosity. Every achievement is recognized as an important step forward. I want students to feel proud of their progress and excited about future growth.
