About Sophie
With 7 years of teaching and performing experience, I am a dedicated violin tutor committed to helping students achieve both technical mastery and artistic expression. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners discovering their first notes to advanced learners preparing for recitals, exams, and competitions. One of the most meaningful milestones in my career has been guiding students from struggling with technique, posture, or confidence to confident performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and interpretation.
My teaching emphasises building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also nurturing creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive playing. I include music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to ensure students gain a well-rounded understanding of music.

I teach violin using a methodology focused on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to develop musicians who are confident, expressive, and technically skilled. Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and basic piano, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of musicianship.
