  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I've always enjoyed helping others learn-explaining things, simplifying the complex, and seeing the lightbulb moments. After going through the UCAT and medical admissions process myself, I realised how overwhelming it can be without the right guidance. That's when I started tutoring seriously. For me, it's about giving back and mentoring the next generation of doctors and dentists-helping them navigate the pressure with confidence, strategy, and support.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I specialise in UCAT preparation, especially Verbal Reasoning-the section many students struggle with most. Thanks to my background in law, I developed strong critical reading skills and went on to score 870/900 in VR. Now, I help students approach that section with a system that truly works - no matter where they're starting from. I cover all sections of the UCAT, really breaking down the complexities and teaching in a digestible manner. I also support MMI interview preparation, which was a major strength of mine and absolutely key in securing my first-round med school offer. I focus on helping students communicate with confidence, think critically, and approach ethical scenarios with clarity and authenticity. What I like least is seeing students overwhelmed by poor resources or inefficient prep. I focus on cutting through the noise and giving them a plan that's structured, strategic, and personalised.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Absolutely. During my first years of university, one of my law lecturers taught with such incredible clarity and always made time to understand students-not just their academic performance, but their mindset and challenges. That stuck with me. I try to bring that same empathy and patience into every session. Sometimes, knowing someone gets what you're going through makes all the difference.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The best tutors know their content-but they also know how to meet students where they are. That means being patient, adaptable, and empathetic. Every student comes in with different strengths, weaknesses, and levels of confidence. My job is to listen, understand, and build a plan around what they need. Especially with UCAT, where mindset and time pressure are major challenges, I focus on teaching smarter techniques while creating a space where students feel supported.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of my students was ready to give up on Verbal Reasoning after a string of low mock scores. We worked together consistently, breaking it down step-by-step and focusing on how to read and reason more efficiently. Over time, their confidence grew-and all of a sudden Verbal Reasoning was by far their strongest sub-section, which was something that was virtually incomprehensible for the student mere months ago. Watching that transformation reminded me how powerful tailored, empathetic guidance can be.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

In UCAT, it's the pressure of time-especially in Verbal Reasoning. Even strong students struggle when they don't have a clear method. I faced the same challenge, but thanks to my background in law, I learned how to interpret complex texts under pressure and build a reliable strategy. That's now a core part of how I help students: not just teaching what to do, but how to stay calm, think clearly, and trust their system-even when the clock is ticking.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I love helping people improve-not just in test scores, but in how they think and approach challenges. Outside of tutoring, I train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which has taught me a lot about discipline, learning through failure, and coaching others. Whether it's on the mat or in a UCAT session, the core is the same: take something complex, break it down, and help someone build real skill and confidence over time.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

What sets me apart is the combination of academic strength, real-world experience, and genuine care for the students I work with. I bring a unique perspective to tutoring-from my background in law, which sharpened my analytical thinking and communication skills, to my journey into medicine, where empathy, clarity, and resilience are everything. I'm calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and deeply committed to helping each student feel understood and supported.

My teaching style is all about breaking things down clearly, adapting to each student's learning style, and making sure they never feel like they're doing it alone. Whether a student needs strategy, structure, or just someone who believes in them, I'm here to help them every step of the way.

I treat this as more than just tutoring-it's my way of giving back. It's my calling to help future doctors and dentists reach their goals, and I genuinely can't wait to see my students become my colleagues one day.
