About Emanuele

Hi, I’m Emanuele Perrone, known also as Emanuele Naima. I’m a performer, sound designer, and music producer. My work is rooted in R&B music but I also experiment with many other styles.

In my music career, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with artists such as DJ Gruff, Gianluca Petrella, Filippo Bubbico, Jay Auborn, John Matthias, among others. As a composer and sound designer, I’m currently scoring My Time With Wolves, a documentary film by award-winning director Mattia Cialoni. I have also worked with Elektra, a contemporary dance company, to create the sound design for Trans and I contributed to the soundtrack of The Rope, a video game developed for Sky Glass TV, integrating Dolby Atmos technology. Another relevant project is Playing Memories, a series of artistic residencies led by Saint Louis in Rome, where I participated as a sound designer and performer.

My interest in experimenting with new languages has led me to projects including The Archive of Lost and Future Smells by Cemre Kara, an installation I sound designed for a quadriphonic surround system. Furthermore, I’m currently developing a research titled "Recontextualising Minimalism: Rescoring Synaesthetic Cinema", exploring the relationship between minimalist music and cinema through the practice of rescoring experimental films. Under my stage name, Emanuele Naima, I co-founded the R&B band Puka Shell’s Bling, where I take an active role in songwriting, production, and creative direction alongside with Lauryyn, Anoir Ben Hadj Amara and Filippo Bubbico.

Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Classical Guitar from the Conservatory Tito Schipa in Lecce, Italy, as well as a Master’s in Music Production and Sound Engineering from dBs Institute in Bristol, UK.

With over six years of experience teaching music, I am specialised in creating dynamic lessons tailored to your needs. My teaching approach focuses on understanding your strengths and limitations to help you succeed. As a session guitarist with extensive performance experience, including collaborations with numerous bands and artists, I bring practical insights into music production, composition, and live performance.

Each lesson lasts 60 minutes and is tailored to your level, goals and musical interests. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced player looking to refine technique and musicality, we build a structured path suited to you. Lessons may include:
– Technical development (posture, tone production, right and left-hand control)
– Repertoire study (classical, contemporary, or modern styles)
– Music theory applied directly to the instrument
– Improvisation and creativity
– Ear training and rhythmic precision

My approach combines conservatory-level technical training with a practical and creative mindset. I focus on helping students understand the instrument deeply, not just reproduce pieces mechanically.
For beginners, we build solid foundations from the start. For intermediate and advanced players, we refine interpretation, expression and technical control.

The goal is long-term growth, confidence and musical independence. Reach out to schedule an introductory lesson today!

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I’ve always loved music since I was 3yo, thanks to my parents who introduced me to Pink Floyd, Pino Daniele, Elton John and R&B music. That’s what I liked the most in my childhood. I picked up a guitar for the first when I was 9yo thanks to my grandfather who wanted to play keyboards with me. That’s how I started.
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Pino Daniele (an Italian brilliant guitarist/musician), Prince (particularly Musicology), Wes Montgomery, Brian Eno, lots of R&B music and many more...
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

The most riveting course I could personally give to a student of music is “contemporary arrangement”. It’s beautiful to see how each people arrange differently a piece of music. Giving them space and opportunity to express themselves actively through music is powerful.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

All instruments have their own difficulties but I think string instruments are the most difficult ones because they need lots of practice before giving you some enjoyment and satisfaction. The very first part of learning is mainly pain for your fingers.
  • What are your keys to success?

Endurance and patience; strength and focus; curiosity and dynamism. No space for laziness or indifference.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

    - Matteo Mancuso. he’s a talented Italian guitarist who had a similar path to mine, I’d like to share some ideas regarding guitar, particularly a way of thinking in order to make guitar solo pieces and new patterns. Also I’d like to ask him how he managed to become a professional guitarist in the Italian industry.
    - I'd like to chat with Damon Albarn regarding feelings and music. I’d need some help with lyrics and their correlation with music, how a “vibe” would affect the music you’re going to make.
    - to Robert Glasper I would say, it’s very early man, let’s go make some music. We got some time.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

Regarding music school, I’ve got lots of anecdotes. I’ve been studying in music schools since 2004... maybe one: I used to be hyperactive, and I still am but I improved. So, I was playing in the school orchestra and I couldn’t be still and quiet, never. It was our second or third concert and it was about to start. Silence in the theatre. As soon as the director walks on the stage my guitar falls from my hands and a huge “boooom” resonates in the hall. Everyone looking at me... that’s just one of many more!
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

Methodical, skilled and empathic are features that used together can be successful. That’s how I aim to be when I teach!
