About Smartstart Tutoring

I’m a university student with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for helping others succeed. I decided to start tutoring because I’ve seen how easily students can lose confidence in maths when they don’t get the right support early on.

I’ve previously supported students in improving their understanding and confidence in maths, helping them make clear progress over time. Seeing those improvements — whether it’s better test results or simply feeling more comfortable with the subject — is what motivated me to continue tutoring.

Having recently gone through the education system myself, I understand the pressures students face and the common mistakes they make. This allows me to explain concepts in a clear, relatable way that actually makes sense to them.

I enjoy seeing students grow in confidence and ability, especially when a subject they once found difficult starts to feel manageable, or even enjoyable.

About the class

I take a structured, results-driven approach to teaching maths, focused on building deep understanding and long-term confidence. Rather than memorising methods, students learn how and why maths works, which helps them tackle unfamiliar exam questions with ease.

Each lesson is tailored, starting with identifying gaps, then using clear, step-by-step explanations, followed by guided and independent practice. I place strong emphasis on exam technique, problem-solving, and avoiding common mistakes.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes and designed for KS2–KS4 students, including 11+ and GCSE preparation. As a university student with a strong maths background, I help students not only improve grades, but become more confident and independent learners.
