About Jo

From an early age, I was dabbling in music and soon developed a passion to create and perform. I have been playing guitar, piano, violin and singing as well as writing my own music for around 15+ years now and have been a part of the music scene - performing in bands and recording music - for around 12 years.

I went on to study music at the University of Edinburgh and graduate with a First Class Honours BMus degree.

During my degree, I taught mainly guitar lessons as well as carrying out music workshops with young children. I have grown to love teaching music and take great pleasure in imparting my own musical knowledge and skill onto new aspiring musicians.

About the class

I offer lessons which encourage pupils to learn musical skills through enjoyment of the creative process and provide a relaxed, easy going atmosphere which allows pupils to reach their full potential.

Through my own experience, I found conventionally rigid music lessons highly off-putting and only started to really progress in music once I found a tutor who taught with an emphasis on learning music for the FUN of it. I, therefore, strongly implement this in my teaching methodology so that students can enjoy creating and performing music whilst studying it.
Lessons will always be tailored to the needs and aims of the individual.
