About Hirusha

I am an academic and computing professional specializing in Data Science, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision. Currently serving as a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, my career bridges the gap between high-level academic research and commercial software engineering.

Parallel to my lecturing role, I am an active MPhil researcher deeply focused on advanced Computer Vision methodologies. Prior to entering academia full-time, I worked in the enterprise tech sector as a Machine Learning Engineer at Dialog Axiata. During my tenure there, I specialized in architecting scalable machine learning models and building robust MLOps deployment pipelines for massive production environments.

My engineering portfolio spans multiple complex domains, including technical research, automated computer vision pipelines, and deep learning implementations. Having navigated both the intense rigors of university research and the fast-paced delivery models of corporate technology, I have unique insight into what it takes to succeed in the modern tech ecosystem.

I transitioned into education because I am passionate about simplifying highly abstract mathematical and computational concepts for the next generation of engineers. I understand the exact roadblocks students face when dealing with complex algorithms, data structures, and research theses. Through my background, I help students overcome these hurdles rapidly, equipping them with both the academic grades and the practical capabilities required to stand out globally.

My lessons are structurally designed to bridge the gap between academic computer science theory and real-world production deployment. Drawing from my dual background as a University Lecturer and a former Machine Learning Engineer, I do not just teach you how to write code; I teach you how to think like a software architect and data scientist.

Every session is highly interactive and customized to your immediate goals, whether you are a university student debugging a complex final-year project, a Master's student navigating Computer Vision algorithms for a thesis, or a professional looking to pivot into tech. We will skip the generic tutorials and dive straight into building live, functional pipelines using modern industry tools.
