About Gaurav
I am a Physics & Mathematics Tutor, Astrophysics Supervisor and Researcher at the University of Cambridge, with extensive experience teaching, mentoring and supporting students from GCSE to university level.
At the University of Cambridge, I supervise undergraduate students in Astrophysics and Physics, including Cosmology, Relativity, Astrophysical Fluids, Electrodynamics and Optics. My professional research background in High Energy Physics and Astrophysics also allows me to connect classroom concepts with real scientific research and practical applications.
My teaching experience includes Physics & Maths tutoring with Debate Chamber, undergraduate Astrophysics supervision at the University of Cambridge, STEM education as a STEM Ambassador, student mentoring, and teaching Experimental Physics laboratories at IIT Delhi.
I teach GCSE and A-level Physics & Mathematics, as well as university-level Physics, Astrophysics and Mathematical Methods.
My lessons focus on deep understanding rather than memorisation. I break complex topics into clear, manageable steps and use worked examples, problem-solving and real-world applications to help students develop confidence, strong mathematical reasoning and independent learning skills.

My lessons are structured, interactive and tailored to each student's level, goals and learning style.
I usually begin by identifying the student's current understanding and any areas causing difficulty. We then work through the topic using clear explanations, diagrams, worked examples and targeted questions. I encourage students to explain their reasoning, rather than simply memorising formulae, so that they develop a genuine understanding of the subject.
A typical 60-minute lesson includes:
• Concept building: understanding the underlying Physics or Mathematics.
• Worked examples: breaking challenging problems down step-by-step.
• Guided practice: solving problems together and addressing misconceptions.
• Independent problems: allowing the student to apply what they have learned.
• Exam technique: using exam-style questions and developing effective problem-solving strategies.
For GCSE and A-level students, I can support both regular learning and examination preparation. For university students, I can provide support with Physics, Mathematics, Astrophysics, mathematical methods, problem sheets, laboratory work, data analysis and scientific computing.
I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and gradually becoming more confident and independent learners.
