About Ethan

I’ve taught piano at a performing arts camp in upstate New York and tutored students throughout high school and college. I also volunteer with Concerts in Motion, performing for senior home residents. Whether you’re looking to enhance your jazz piano, music theory, or composition skills, I offer personalized guidance to help you reach your goals.

About the class

I’m a jazz pianist and educator with experience in performance and teaching. I studied jazz piano at the Thompson Jazz Studies Program at CU Boulder, excelling in music theory, aural skills, and composition. My skills were further developed through programs like the NYU Steinhardt Summer Jazz Improv and Composers Workshop, the Interlochen Summer Intensive, and the Berklee College of Music Aspire Program.

Ethan has a way of making piano lessons feel both inspiring and approachable. He’s as comfortable guiding a student through the rhythms and creativity of jazz as he is helping them capture the emotion in a classic like Billy Joel’s And So It Goes. More than just a teacher, he’s a coach and mentor who works equally well with both young beginners and adult learners, helping them build confidence, find their unique voice, and enjoy the process of learning. His patience, encouragement, and passion for music create an environment where students not only grow as pianists but also as musicians and individuals
