I would make a strong geography tutor because my BA Geography degree gives me a solid grounding in both human and physical geography, as well as the ability to think spatially across different scales and use maps, data and case studies effectively. Through my degree, I have developed strong communication skills, including explaining complex ideas clearly and building reasoned arguments, which are essential for helping students grasp challenging topics and exam questions. Studying geography has also trained me in critical thinking and problem solving, so I can break down difficult concepts, identify where a student is struggling, and adapt explanations to their learning style. On top of this, tutoring works particularly well when it is one-to-one and peer-based, as students often feel more comfortable asking questions and can benefit from personalised support that consolidates their learning and boosts confidence.
