About Karen

I graduated from Boston Latin High School, Cambridge College (Associates of Business Administration), and Brandeis University (Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Bachelors of Science in Applied Math). Throughout college, I was the teaching assistant for a lot of the courses that I took, and I worked at the tutoring center as well. Outside of education, I have interned at Amazon as a Software Engineer, Sanofi Genzyme as a Biostatistician, and Chinatown Main Street as a Community Advocate.

Here are the courses that I have extensive knowledge in tutoring:
Math: PreAlgebra, Algebra I, Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, College Calculus, Numerical Methods, Discrete Structures, Logic
Computer Science: Java, Python, R, SQL, Javascript, React, HTML/CSS

Here are the levels that I can tutor:
- Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Undergraduate, Graduate

Typical lesson plan:
- Have the student send me what they are struggling with so that I can come prepared to the lesson to help.
- Understand a student's learning style and adjusting to what makes sense for the student as some are more visual, auditory, or learn by doing.
- Giving actionable next steps to take away from the session.

Here are some success stories:
- Bringing a student in Calculus with a D to a B within 4 months
- With one lesson, I gave a roadmap on how to go from F to C.
- Made one realize that they want to major in Computer Science.
