About Emily
I am a trainee primary school teacher, currently studying at Sunderland University. I recently completed an Access into Higher Education Diploma in Educational Studies and I have been studying teaching and delivering lessons since September 2019. I use a fun and engaging approach to learning, using skills from my own teaching and life experience to provide the level of education each individual needs, regardless of their age and abilities.

My teaching method focuses a lot on using imagination and creativity in lessons, from songs to poems and stories, and taking learning beyond the classroom into the great outdoors! I like to teach using a pupil-lead and respectful approach to ensure each lesson is focused around the individual needs of a pupil.
At the beginning of each lesson I like to take the time to understand where each pupil is in terms of their learning and revisiting past lessons in order to progress further with the topic. This allows the pupils to engage in a topic they are already familiar with, creating a positive learning atmosphere and environment, which supports the presentation and application of new information.

I have known Emily for three years, we worked in the same job role at a cafe while we were students at college studying different subjects. Emily really helped me and supported me through college with my dyslexia, she had a lot of time a patience for my extra needs she proof read my work and broke things down for me so I could structure my sentence better and sound more professional, I came away with a triple distinction star! she also helped me apply and wright my personal statement for university which I have now been accepted for the university of Sunderland. I could not have done so well for myself if it wasn’t for her layback nature and guidance
Emily has amazing patience and resilience and has achieved fantastic results with my 7 year old grandson who was struggling with reading. School couldn't provide the level of one to one he needed. With patience and ingenuity she has awakened the thirst for learning he previously shied away from. He is now achieving amazing results and this week the "Head Teacher's award".
