About Rafan
Hey, I’m Rafan. I tutor Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 for middle and high school students, and I totally get what it’s like to feel stuck in math. I’ve been there myself — but once it finally clicked, I went on to get a 100 average in Algebra 1 and a 99 in Honors Algebra 2, and even won Student of the Month for it. Now, I help other students get to that “aha!” moment too. My goal isn’t just to get you through your homework — it’s to help you actually understand the material, feel more confident, and maybe even start to enjoy it (seriously). I explain things in a really simple, down-to-earth way, and I’m super patient. You can ask me anything — there’s no pressure and no judgment. Math can be really frustrating when it doesn’t make sense — I totally get that. That’s why I don’t just teach students to memorize steps. I take the time to explain why things work, using simple language, real-life examples, and whatever makes the concept finally click. I’m super patient, I don’t rush, and I make sure we go at your pace.
A typical session with me isn’t just about doing homework. We’ll start by figuring out what you’re stuck on, then I’ll walk you through it step-by-step. I like to keep things relaxed and open — you can ask me anything, no pressure. We’ll do a few problems together, and then I’ll help you try some on your own until you feel solid. My goal isn’t just to help you pass — I want you to actually get it.
What makes me different? I’ve been that student who just needed someone to explain it right. I had a 100 in Algebra 1 and a 99 in Honors Algebra 2, and I was named Student of the Month because I worked hard and helped others too. I honestly believe I explain things better than most people because I actually care, and I remember what it’s like to be on the other side of it.
