Hi there! I’m Lakshita Sharma, a student of Business Management and Economics at the University of Sheffield. My educational background includes 94% marks in my A levels and specifically in Economics and Business Studies as well as English, I secured 95% marks each which also was the basis of the award bestowed upon me in 2017 for Academic Excellence in The University of Sheffield Academic Scholarship meet. My enthusiasm about Economics comes from the depth of knowledge that the subject carries and the logical approach towards transmission of this knowledge that the subject equips one with. The graphs and schedules tell tales of great value to an economist and to speak the same language as them is an absolute honor! In my experience at school, I didn’t start out as a genius in this subject, it took a lot of hard work for me to master the concepts and finally prove myself. While applying to university, I realized in this journey of challenging my mind with economic concepts throughout high school, I had started to develop a passion towards the subject and hence I chose my course! Applying to university was one of the most exciting and intimidating experiences of my life but since I’ve joined university my life has been filled with academic and holistic enlightenment, I’ve joined so many societies including Singers and Performing Arts society, Bollywood dance society, Investment society and have been elected the events officer for the International Students’ Committee. This makes me highly equipped with not only academic experience but also practical management of time which is critical for the success of a tutor as an effective teacher.
My teaching approach shows refined levels of organization and logical compartmentalization of academic ideas that makes sense to the mind in ways that the knowledge transmitted becomes an integral part of the brain. I believe in extensive reading and analysis of concepts. I also base my question answering techniques on concepts like Bloom’s Taxonomy that provides precision and perfection in not only learning the concept but also application and showcasing the concept through a student’s answering and understanding of the question ability. Personally, these techniques have served me very well throughout. However, I understand that individuals are unique and hence have unique ways of understanding concepts and my analytical behavior ensures that the knowledge transmission technique is customized to the student’s needs and is effective. In order to measure the effectiveness of my teaching on the student, I also have an abundance of question banks and worksheets for the students to practice the application of their knowledge and master their skills in economics.
I believe that the best way to encourage learning comes from within a student after they have tasted their first bite of success in a particular field, However I believe to encourage them to take that first step to tasting their first success is my job! :)
