My math lessons and tutoring practices are for all grade levels, intellectual levels, and ages. I tailor the lessons and sessions to fit the needs of each client. I use a targeted approach to acknowledge and celebrate subjects that have been mastered and to diagnose any areas of concern. I use tools and strategies to efficiently address and correct weaknesses in comprehension/retention - enabling the client to continually improve. I always take detailed notes/data to adapt my approach immediately if necessary; this allows me to provide clients with real-time feedback about each session.
A typical lesson plan adheres closely to each state's standards set by its DOE. However, I try to incorporate as many foundational and innovative concepts that improve the client's understanding of math. The sequence and pacing of my lessons reflect a logical flow of necessary concepts, however, I have methods of ensuring agility in teaching and tutoring that may be needed for any particular client. Each session involves reinforcing previously learned concepts, correcting errors with current areas of struggle, and providing new and different strategies to master the given material.
