About Maria
Hello! My name is Maria, and I’m currently an A-Level student studying Maths, Physics and Economics. I achieved excellent results at GCSE in Maths and Physics, a grade 9 in both and I’ve always had a strong passion for science and problem-solving. I decided to start tutoring because I know how challenging these subjects can feel at times. Having been through the same exams recently myself, I understand the areas where students often struggle and how important it is to have clear explanations and patient support. I enjoy helping others discover that Maths and Science can actually be logical, enjoyable, and rewarding once they’re broken down into simple steps. Tutoring gives me the opportunity not only to strengthen my own knowledge but also to inspire younger students to gain confidence, reach their goals, and realise their potential. My approach to tutoring is student-centred and flexible, tailored to each learner’s needs and goals. I focus on building a strong understanding of the fundamentals in Maths and Science before moving on to problem-solving and exam-style questions. I break topics down into clear, manageable steps and use real-life examples to make concepts easier to understand. I encourage students to ask questions and think out loud so that I can identify gaps in their knowledge and address them straight away. I also share simple study tips and revision techniques to help them become more independent learners and feel confident before exams. A typical lesson lasts 1 hour, although I can adapt to shorter (30–45 min) sessions for younger students or longer lessons if needed. Lessons usually begin with a quick recap of previous work, then focus on one or two topics with practice questions and interactive discussion. I am currently studying A-Level Maths, Physics and Economics, and I achieved high grades in GCSE Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and other subjects. This means I understand the curriculum requirements and exam techniques very well, having recently been through the same system myself. My lessons are for Primary, KS3, and GCSE students in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I particularly enjoy helping students who may lack confidence in these subjects, showing them that with the right guidance they can make rapid progress.
