About Veleriia
Having developed a deep love for literature myself, which I’m continuing to study in sixth form, I believe there is never a uniform approach to teaching it. Every student brings their own unique perspective to a text, making each lesson engaging and meaningful. I genuinely enjoy listening to students as they explore new authors, uncover subtle connections in poetry, and relate their own experiences to writers from centuries past. It’s this personal engagement that brings literature to life - and it’s exactly what I aim to inspire in every lesson

My approach to English Literature begins with understanding each student’s individual challenges. Depending on their level of ability, I will then discuss their needs and set tailored tasks to support their progress. I prioritise building confidence by first ensuring a strong grasp of contextual knowledge, which is essential for unlocking deeper meanings in the texts. From there, I guide students to develop a thoughtful understanding of the writer’s purpose and how the literary techniques are used to convey it. Once this solid foundation is in place, we focus on regular essay practice, working together to mark and improve responses in a way tailored to exam success
