I started teaching drums aged 18, so I've actually been practising the craft, on and off, for 40 years.
For 14 years I dragged a a motley bunch of musicians around the world, dispensing money, manners and musicianship. They all went on to good musical careers. [I heard some of the marriages went astray, but that's not my line!}
I let go of that musical life to marry Yola, who's tolerated me, somehow, for 20 years. She collaborated hugely on my 2 finest creations. Roksana is interviewing for PHDs in Science at Manchester University. Christian is grafting at an Apprenticeship with BMW, and honing a body of steel in his spare time.
I would happily die for all 3 of them, which is convenient, since, these days, they're killing me!
In 2016 I passed my P.G.C.E. and I've been teaching on Supply in Blackburn Primary Schools since then. My St Matthews years 3, 4 and 5 Science students, mostly English as a Second Language children, tested at an average of around 79%. My Feniscowles Behaviour and Special needs little monsters all learned to be nice, while their literacy and numeracy improved; the former was a major achievement!
I'm looking for the right permanent position for the next ten years. It has to be the right one, because I've had the best job in the world and I'm picky now!
