About Tristan
Hi! My name's Tristan and I am currently an upcoming sophomore (taking a gap semester) at MCLA pursuing a B.A in Mathematics to become a middle-school math teacher. My skills include proficiency with mathematics starting from Pre-Algebra all the way up to Calculus 1. I am a highly motivated person when it comes to math, and although I am still learning more, that does not stop me from creating individualistic approaches to lessons and giving each and every lesson the uniqueness that makes each one feel different.

The main goal I have for myself when I tutor is for my tutees to get a general understanding of the lessons that are being taught and build upon that. I will use a combination of prior knowledge while also building confidence and self-motivation for mathematics at their level to accomplish this. Throughout my educational career, teachers and professors have displayed what I believe to be just raw teaching. This would mean teaching for the sake to teach without worrying about the uniqueness of a classroom and what prior knowledge students may or may not have.
I strongly believe that when engaged with students, you should always look and see what a student does or does not know about a particular topic related to a subject as that can be your best bet when helping students understand the content. Tutees have a varying amount of experience as do tutors and should be evaluated to the highest extent.
I believe that if we can work on your certain weaknesses and struggles when working with math then I can guarantee that you will become more proficient and be able to apply what you learn in other areas of mathematics and beyond.
